Nostalgia & Tips and things ….
Mrs Lewis of Wiltshire used her old tights (legs only) for crocheting bath mats, and, whilst the crocheting bug was still with her, used up the rest of her old tights by treating the dog to a new cover for the inside of its basket. As she says - "it is simple to wash and quick to dry". She crochets these circles along the same lines as we used to make shoulder handbags. Do you remember them ladies? We used to crochet two matching circles plus a long narrow strip and then join the circles to the strip and hey presto! a bag which was very fashionable at the time . .
. And as everything comes round in circles, they will no doubt one day be fashionable again. Come to think of it, the same bag created out of old tights/stockings would make a very useful 'peg bag', one which you could sling over your shoulder and so leave the hands free for hanging out the washing.CrochetingAs soon as Mrs L mentioned 'crocheting with fabric', my mind immediately flipped back to my childhood. I can remember...

Luau! Decorating with a Hawaiian Theme
Hawaii is a first choice travel destination with millions of people - and for good reason. Bring a little of that island feeling into your home, either indoors or in your outdoor living space. You can apply this theme to an elegant dinner party, a fun and funky luau, or anything in between. 1. First, look at the space itself, including floors, walls, roof or ceiling.
TextureThink natural materials. Try bamboo matting on the floor. It's fairly inexpensive, very durable and easy on the feet. For a roof or large patio umbrella, consider palm leaf thatch. ColorChoose rich vibrant colors inspired by island vegetation: hibiscus red, bird of paradise orange or palm tree green.
Use pineapple and mango colored accents. Bright navy or marine blue makes an effective background. 2. Next, add the furniture. Again, natural materials are best.
For example, raffia table skirts and rattan or bamboo furniture are a fast way to create that island atmosphere. If you're using indoor...

Short Skirts are in: Are Your Legs Ready?
There is a saying that as hemlines rise so does the stock market.

While for men this may be a cause of celebration, for many women this news is a reason for some concern.
Shorter skirts mean that more of the leg is visible.
And while we women are seldom satisfied with our bodies, more women voice dissatisfaction with their legs than any other part of the body.
Varicose veins and spider veins are two problems that can plague our legs as we get older.
Over 50% of women and 40% of men over the age of 50 complain of vein problems.
The legs are susceptible to these vein problems because they work very hard pumping oxygen-poor blood back up to the heart while the arteries pump blood rich in oxygen from the heart to other parts of the body.
Without getting too technical,...
